Lola Lo Derby

A tropical Tiki bar styled night club that encompasses the essence of the carefree south pacific with a kitsch twist.

As one of the larger sites we have adapted for the Lola Lo concept, the most immediate challenge was in evolving the concept to add new creative elements to the design of the interior. The brief from the Eclectic bar group was to add something “mad with a bit of disco” so guests enter through a real sunken ship to be greeted with a tropical arboretum of hanging plants, and a flock of 52 mirror ball carrying parrots over the dance floor.

Case Study: Lola Lo Derby

Being a listed building it was essential that we found creative solutions to dominant elements in the space that could not be altered but could be clad with tropical elements, so other decorative installations include a neon back lit hibiscus grand staircase and 4 meter tall sunken ship fish tank.

Taking a total of 4 weeks, our specialist build teams were on site to fit all of the décor produced in our London based workshop. The main bar is a traditional styled tiki bar with evocative lighting and using all the familiar materials we are used at Lola Lo’s such as natural bamboo, hand carved woods, and vintage Hawaiian print seating. Thatched roofs and classic carved posts make up the beach hut inspired seating whilst lighting elements include the classic puff fish lantern, back lit fishing floats in nets and raffia cloth lampshades.
