Case Study: Bodos Schloss
Being in the basement of the 5* Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington the first challenge on this project was in creating a bar and nightclub that was sound proofed from guests staying at the hotel. With an acoustic box installed our first challenge was to timber clad the entire space without connecting the floors, walls and ceilings. The front room was inspired by an Alpine chalet and the back room an authentic Austrian barn so our first task was to source authentic reclaimed timber so that we could create a structure from which to attach the cladding.
Our brief was to immerse clients into the experience so other decorative installations include a bubble ski lift turned Dj booth that was sourced in the French Pyrenees presenting new challenges due to its location in a remote village with the local Mayor being the only person with a tractor to load it onto the trailer.
We found timber for the cladding, structure and waney edge tables in a remote part of Austria where the wood had been sitting for 15 years, on the same buying trip we also managed to procure a wealth of brick-a-brac and furniture from Kitzbuhel for the interior, whilst other elements of the design such as the cow bell light fitting were customised in our own London workshop.
